We invite you to sit back relax and join us on this exciting sightseeing tour along the shoreline of Loch Linnhe to Oban, Argyll and The Dramatic Glencoe. This Highland Mini Tour lasts for seven hours, or it can be extended by the hour or to a Full Day Tour.
Your Private Guided Tour begins when we collect you from your desired location in or around Fort William or Oban.
On departing Fort William we travel the shoreline of Loch Linnhe to the beauty spot of Appin that is a tranquil coastal village and is part of the Lynn of Lorn National Scenic Area, one of 40 in Scotland. As we pass through we view the authentic Castle Stalker one of the best preserved medieval tower houses in Scotland, made famous in Monty Python. We also hear tale of The Appin Murder famed in Robert Louis Stephenson’s novel Kidnapped.
We will then travel on to the villages of Connel where we cross over the Connel Bridge with stunning views of The Falls of Lora, and then Dunbeg where we will view Dunstaffnage Castle once a stronghold of The Mac Dougals of Lorne and also captured by Robert the Bruce.
We then journey further on to the bustling and vibrant town of Oban is known as The Gateway to the Isles, which has its own interesting history. Formerly a fishing village it lies in the shadows of McCaig’s Tower, the towns most prominent landmark. Having witnessed scenes of battles, and acted as a base for flying boats through the wars. We stop in Oban for a comfort stop.
On departing Oban we travel through Argyll a historic county that corresponds to most of the part of the ancient kingdom of Dal RIata. We will visit the Magnificent St Connans Kirk and take a stroll to The Impressive Kilchurn Castle. Our journey through to The Rannoch Moor will take you through dramatic landscape to Glencoe a stunning landscape formed by glaciers and is part of the National scenic area of Ben Nevis & Glencoe. It is described as one of the most spectacular and beautiful glens in Scotland. It’s dramatic scenery and haunting story of The Massacre of Glencoe in 1692 will engage you and make your tour memorable.
